Dr. Who [Sep. 24th, 2007|11:03 am]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
Matt & I have been Netflix-ing the new Dr. Who shows (we're into season 2 now).

WOW that is a great show!

I used to watch the old Dr. Who episodes when I was a little girl, but I don't remember them well.

The new series though is AWESOME. Any other Dr. Who fans out there? (other than Annie & Matt & Sally, hehe!).

Not a fan, but I did see an episode or two on flights back and forth from here to Michigan. VERY good :) I loved Rose and she's also in a new version of Mansfield Park.

Big fan of Dr Who here, I wont spoil future episodes for you, but it gets even better! You'll be on the edge of your seat grinning (you'll know the bit I mean when you see it teehee)

Have you had a chance to check out Torchwood yet? The Dr Who spin-off. There's also a spin-off for the kids too.

Awesome!

I'm about 3 episodes into Torchwood - different vibe, but I'm enjoying that a lot too!

It's certainly a more grown up series isn't it. :) I think it fits in a lot more when watched between episodes of the regular series. A lot begins to make more sense then. I'm pretty sure you'll be safe from spoilers doing that.

Have you checked out the Christmas specials too?

Ooooh, me! LOVED Tom Baker's Dr Who. I've just finished catching up on Season One of the new series, so you're farther along than I am! I've got Season Two on the way from Netflix, though! I really liked Christopher Eccleston, and I hear David Tennant has been doing a great job. I'm such a Who-geek! I was briefly secretary for a local Dr Who fan club back in my late teens! :P

I love Dr Who!

We're a little behind, and I've been thinking about Netflix, or buying the DVDs or something to catch up. With a baby, it's been hard to keep up with all the shows I love that come on at his bedtime. haha!

I watched a few episodes of the old Dr Who when I was a kid, too. I don't remember much either and have been wanting to see them all, too. We can get them at the local library, which is awesome.

I am a total Dr. Who geek. Even attended conventions when I was 12 or so (in the 80s!) - and the new series and Torchwood are FABULOUS!

*Hands up.

Since I was a little lad in fact-it was a Saturday evening staple in the 70's and I think it went off the boil for me when they got Peter Davidson in,but the new doctor who rocks, and I can't wait to catch up with the new series.

Ok, I've only seen a few episodes of the new series, but yeah, I am just IN LOVE (so far, with the Doctor) but have been watching Torchwood, which makes me need to get my butt in gear and get the Dr. Who DVDs!

Hooray for us new Who fans!

Fingers crossed ^^

The Doctor

I've been a huge fan of Doctor Who ever since I can remember. The first Doctor I remember is Jon Pertwee (3rd Doctor), although Tom Baker (4th Doctor) was always MY Doctor as a kid. (In the UK, "MY" Doctor means the Doctor you nostalgically remember as a kid).
Peter Davison (5th Doctor) killed it for me, and Colin Baker (6th Doctor)and Sylvester McCoy (7th Doctor) only made it worse, so I quit watching. I've been watching the "revived" series since it started back in 2005, and fell back in love with it. Chris did a "fantastic" (pun intended) job at resurrecting The Doctor, and David is just simply awesome.
I've done 4 Doctor Who paintings to date, (my icon is one of them) and plan on doing more. Season 3 is definitely the best to date, and wait til you see Episode 10, entitled "Blink"...you're gonna love that one!!

Me too, me too! I used to watch it with my dad when I was a kid, so it's great to see him go nuts over the new episodes. (Peter Davidson was My Doctor - so there's no accounting for taste...)

Favorite episodes; Dalek (for Nostalgia and awesome acting - my favorite of the series), The Girl in the Fireplace, Human Nature?Family of Blood (2 parter)

There are rumors of a David Bowie appearance in Season 4...

I love the Doctor! I started with the Jon Pertwee doctor and went through Tom Baker. The new season are fabulous! I especially like David Tennant.
Right now we're on season 2 on Netflix while watching Torchwood and season 3 on cable.
All I can say is Yipee!!! the Doctor is in!

I've seen a few episodes. I'm trying to get into it.

I wanted to ask about Faerie Con. You're going all three days, yes? Are you going to the Good Faerie Masquerade Ball( 10/12) or the Bad Faerie Masquerade Ball(10/13) at the Trocadero? I can't go all three days, so I think I'm going to the Con on Saturday & to the ball that night.

This will probably be my only chance in meeting you since I only live about 45 min. from Philly & I definitely want the chance to meet you in person at either the Philly Convention Center or at the Troc.

Oh wow! I'll be at the convention in a big booth near the middle, for all three days of the Con =) I'll be there the whole time, for sure!

I don't know if I'll be at any of the actual events or if I'll be too tired at night (working a booth tends to suck the life out of me!). I'd like to see the midnight showing of Labyrinth though, we'll see.

At any rate I'll be at my booth at the Convention Center! I forget what booth number, but it's a 20' one near the center, so hopefully I'll be hard to miss. I'm happy I'll get to meet you finally!!

See you there!
