"The Secret of Notre Dame" - Minis, Sale, Busch Gardens, etc. [May. 8th, 2007|04:49 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
Hi everyone!

Been painting up a storm here. New paintings, commissioned paintings, lots o'stuff.

Also - I thought this was neat - the Busch Garden themeparks are now carrying some of my merchandise at their stores, so if you are lucky enough to live next to one of the parks - check it out! =)

First off the new painting - "The Secret of Notre Dame." I'm getting ready to take Larry Elmore's art classes in France later this month, so I've been reading a lot about Paris and the art and architecture there, which helped to inspire this painting. On top of the cathedral of Notre Dame are some of the most beautiful and famous stone gargoyles, leering over the city below. I've painted one with a bat-winged fairy girl - way atop the roof of Notre Dame - you can see the misty city of Paris in the background - it is really a stunning painting. I have put a lot of time into this one, lots of details - my hard work really shows off in this piece. And it is FRAMED and READY-TO-HANG on your wall!

Now if the original painting is out of your budget, I've gone ahead and released the "The Secret of Notre Dame" prints, now available and on SALE!

"The Secret of Notre Dame" 8x10 SALE PRINT $10

"The Secret of Notre Dame" 12x16 SALE PRINT $20

To see all of my sale prints this week together, visit the SALE section of my store by CLICKING HERE.

Now the "MINI" paintings - 5"x3" tiny original acrylic paintings on sheets of canvas - each is at a FIXED price of only $50 - this is the only way you can really get an original painting from me for that price, and these tend to sell instantly, so grab one if you can!! Some of these mini paintings are *extra special* this week - I've been playing with adding real glitter, and glow-in-the-dark paints on some, so that's a new thing for me!

To see all of my MINIs and my other original paintings together, you can click below:

Click HERE to see all of the MINIS together or click below to see them individually:

I went to paris around about a year ago and i really think its one of the most amazing inspiring cities anywhere..
Notre dame is really beautiful, but i imagined it to be a lot bigger than it is..
Hope you have a great time there, and i love the painting!

Yay for Elmore! He's one of my favorite fantasy artists of all time, topped only by Clyde Caldwell.

Not like I need to tell you to enjoy yourself! :)

>^__^< I'm very much looking forward to it!

Larry's the main inspiration I had for pursuing fantasy art as a career. I fell in love with the "Art of Dragonlance" book I get for my 12th birthday, hehe.

This'll be the third trip I've had with him. He's become somewhat of a mentor to me, and a good friend. I'm sure we'll have a wonderful time and I hope I will learn a lot!

Notre Dame is amazing, its probably the most impressive buidling you will ever see. When you stand directly under it and look up, you see so many faces of statues all stairing back down at you, all different, all unique.
The inside is also impressive, the only thing that annoys me is the fact that its usualyl so overly full you cant see everything porperly.

The painting is beautiful!

Thank you Lindy!

I only have a little bit of time actually in Paris basically I'm flying into the airport, doing a car tour, and then it's off to the countryside. If I like what I see though, I definitely will want to go back and spend some real time there....

France? Me too!!

Hi Jasmine,

How wierd, I'll be in France from the 17th too. Must be the month for it :o)...I've already packed my sketch book ready to go :o)

It's a shame we won't really see this absolutely beautiful lady amongst the gargoyles of the Notre Dame. This is one of your best so far I think, congratulations!

Enjoy lovely France - a bientot and bon voyage. Caroline :o)

Thank you Pixie! I had a great time on that one. I bought a new camera and will be sure to take lots of reference photos of cityscapes and medieval villages in France, so you might see more stuff like that from me upon my return!

Yep!! Actually I'm just flying in to Charles De Gaulle airport, and then getting whisked off down to the Burgundy countryside. It's an artist retreat in a 15th Century castle/guesthouse - I'm very much looking forward to it. I do get a "car tour" of Paris, I'd like to come back again sometime when I can actually spend at least a day or two there.... it looks beautiful!
