Pink Dragon Fairy & yet more Hot Topic stuff! [Mar. 15th, 2007|09:34 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
I've had kind of a crappy week. First I had to go to the dentist, blah. Then I did my income taxes, and even though I was a good girl and paid my estimated taxes out quarterly last year, I still ended up owing a ridiculous amount. ::shakes fist at the sky::

Today though, I just did my best to forget about all the bad stuff, and did a pretty painting. Click below to see:

"Pink Dragon Fairy" ORIGINAL PAINTING

Also - I have even more stuff at Hot Topic! Check your local store, or click below to see my newest sticker - based on my "Three Wise Faeries" painting:

"Three Wise Faeries" NEW STICKER AT HOT TOPIC

I saw a good movie the other night - I don't know if I could recommend to everybody, it's really kind of messed up, bizarre, and a little disturbing, but I really enjoyed it! It was called "Tideland" and was made by Terry Gilliam (I love his movies). Click HERE to see more info up at IMDB - it's on DVD now. Anybody else seen it? Read the book? Is it good too?

I'm going to go see about some dinner. I'm starving! Enjoy the new art! Tomorrow I will be listing a stack of MINI paintings I've been working on the past week. And some sale stuff. So be on the lookout =)

It was an awesome movie! Yeah - the same kind of "little girl in a really really bad situation gets wrapped up in a fantasy world" type of vibe.

Thank you Kayti =)

I saw "Tideland" last summer. I really loved it. It was pretty good about making me uncomfortable at times. I just wanted a few scenes to end, but all in all, it was really good! Any movie that has a a lot of bizarre life and death always wins me over! I haven't read the book! I'd be curious to see how it differs!

XOXO!!!

Thank you so much!

Those are AWESOME wedding colours, by the way! Much better than the usual "ivory and powder blue" or "rose and beige", etc. combos!

If it was by Terry Gilliam, I must see it. Well, the Pink Dragon Fairy is exquisite and I so want to go buy that Sticker. I am awaiting excitedly for our local Hot Topic to reopen! *hugs*

Thank you Pixie!

I love Terry Gilliam's films. This one was even further on the "creepy/disturbing" meter than usual, but it was definitely well done.

Oh, I have been wanting to see Tideland so much! Of course we didn't get it at my movie store, so I went to the other one in town (they seem to get a lot of stuff that we don't) and they had never heard of it :( I'm probably going to have to buy it to see it.

It was a great movie! Definitely not-for-kids, but still it was about a little girl and had some childlike qualities to it.

Our local "Movie Gallery" just got it the last week. I don't even remember it playing in theatres, it must have been a very limited release.

Just a question, Jasmine.
How big is the mounting border around your 11x14 canvas prints? Is it big enough for the print to be stretched over 11x14 stretcher bars without any of the image being cut off? Thanks!

Hey there!

Nope, the ones ordered from eBay & my website have a very very marginal mounting border, just enough to give a mat something to hold onto. They're intended to be framed flat with a mat or behind glass, not stretched.

However if you are wanting a stretched canvas print - I can do those made-to-order for an additional fee - they require using our other printer and a larger sheet of canvas to provide room for stretching so I only do them upon request - if you are interested just email me at JasmineToad@aol.com =)

my daughter

We are redoing my soon to be 8yr old daughters room. We happened to be looking on amazon for new "grown up" pictures. She said she wanted some of fairies. When we came across yours, her mind made up. Only Jasmine Beckett-Griffith will do. Nothing else!! We let her pick out 6. If she had her way we would have gotten all the ones with frogs. Thank you for appealing to a wide age range.

Re: my daughter

=) Thank you so much for your comment! It really makes me happy that my art is appreciated by all ages. Having been a little girl once myself, it feels good to think that other little girls like what I've dedicated my life to creating. Thank you so much!
