Shallow Grave, and two little OSWOA paintings! [Mar. 7th, 2007|09:01 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
Hi everyone!

I have been very busy painting and have created three new original paintings for you! Two are cute little 4"x6" OSWOA™ paintings, and the other is my latest "masterpiece" - a large beautiful painting, one of my best so far.

This new "masterpiece" painting is called "Shallow Grave". I use the term masterpiece, hehe, because this is a painting that I have truly put a lot of "myself" into, and spent a great deal of time painting every detail. You can see every blade of grass that I painted (there are 265,456,971 of them. Well, it seemed like it - lol!), it is even prettier in person. It is kind of a melancholy, creepy, yet touching painting featuring a sad young girl lying in a flower strewn meadow, lying next to a newly-unearthed grave with a skeleton. There may be a story here, or you may make up your own. I am very proud of this painting, please take a look. You can see her below:

"Shallow Grave" BIG ORIGINAL PAINTING

Next up are my little OSWOA™ paintings! OSWOA™ stands for "Original Small Work of Art" - if you search OSWOA on eBay you'll find lots of actual original artworks from great artists - all the same size - 4"x6" - that is a great size because it is a standard photo size, perfect for photo albums, photo sleeves, frames, etc. I have two of them for you:

"Waiting for My Bats" ORIGINAL PAINTING 4"X6" OSWOA

"Pretty Green Mermaid" ORIGINAL PAINTING 4"X6" OSWOA

Let me see - not much else going on - painting, painting, painting. But I love painting, so that is a good thing =)

I want to see this movie when it comes out this weekend!!!

I have a pineapple in my yard that is getting ripe. I need to go pick it sometime before the raccoons/possums/armadillos get their hands on this one....

For now though, I need to get back to work. I have about a million (well, almost) canvas prints that I need to hand embellish, sign & number - woohoo! ;)

Good night everybody!

You are very talented and I love everything about your work. I try drawing it sometimes but I will never be as half as good as you. Keep up the great work because you are really good at it.

Thank you so much!

Well, it takes lots of work! I'm a much better artist than I was even a year ago. Just lots and lots (and lots) of practice =)

WONDERFUL PAINTING! I'm a sucker for anything with a skeleton!

I think we're making a special trip to the movie theater to see 300 also! It just seems like something that you need to experience very BIG and very LOUD!

XOXO!!!!!

I love the soulful face in Shallow Grave. Thanks for posting about the movie 300, which I hadn't even heard of. I'm a huge Frank Miller fan, as well as a fan of ancient Greek and Roman stories.

Thank you =) =)

We got out to see 300 last night, it was awesome! I've always thought it was a neat story out of history, and I'd seen the graphic novel he did. The movie was amazing - great visuals.

Easily one of my favourite things you've ever done, and open to so much multi-interprutation.

Spectacular!!!

And I already have my advance tickets for opening night of 300. My most anticipated movie since Pans Labyrinth, which I've seen seven times now;)

Thank you David!

We snuck out and saw it last night, it was awesome!

Oh man, Pan's Labyrinth was the best movie I'd seen in years. I'm going to buy the DVD the minute it comes out.

Oh, wow, Shallow Gave is so soulful. Definitely one of my favorites! Very emotive.

300! I love Gerard Butler and I love history, too! I know some people who saw an advance screening of the movie and said it is just AWESOME! Can't wait to see it!

HI Jasmine. long time no talk. Been busy working. Your new painting are great. Shallow Grave is wonderful. Guess what I saw at my local hot topic. Your car mats were there, but they didn't have the steering wheel cover. Bummer I want the set.

wonderful to see your stuff out on the market.

Hey Sandra! How's it going?

Thank you so much! I had a lot of fun painting this one.

Our local Target has the steeringwheel covers, but nothing else yet - I always go peek whenever I'm buying groceries, lol.

Shallow Grave

Your work is so unique..I love it. The shallow grave is so haunting! I came across your site while looking for fairy's (thinking about changing the wings on my fairy tattoo) and i saw shallow grave. It made me cry because my sister was a fairy lover and collector and I have picked up where she left off after her death in Dec 2004. She was my world so this painting really shook me. Keep up the good work.

Re: Shallow Grave

Hi Meghan - thank you so much for stopping by my journal and taking the time to write to me =)

Thank you also for sharing your story with me. I'm so sorry to hear about your sister. My sisters are my best friends, I do not know what I would do without them. You must be a strong person to carry on like that.

I am happy that my painting touched you. I had tears in my eyes when I painted it. There is something special about this one.
