First new painting of 2007, MINIS, prints, etc. etc. etc. [Jan. 2nd, 2007|08:07 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
I've finished her - my first new painting of 2007!

Click below to see her, she turned out very pretty:

"Pearl Dragon Princess" ORIGINAL PAINTING

Isn't she lovely?

I also squeezed in a couple of mini paintings - these do tend to sell FAST, so grab one if you can, and I apologize in advance if they have sold already:

"Little Red Bows"

"Pink and Pretty"

Then I have some new #01 Limited Edition Hand Embellished Canvas prints here:

"Mermaid Mother and Child" Lt. Ed. #01 CANVAS PRINT

"Dark Dragon" Lt. Ed. #01 CANVAS PRINT

and the open editions of them are also on SALE this week (to see all of my current SALE auctions, click HERE:

"Dark Dragon" 8x10" SALE PRINT $10 & "Dark Dragon" 12x16" SALE PRINT $20

"Mermaid Mother and Child" 8x10" SALE PRINT $10 & "Mermaid Mother and Child" 12x16" SALE PRINT $20

Today Matt got some tools for his frameshop/woodshop at Home Depot using the gift certificates he received as Christmas presents! He had fun doing that, and we also hit the garden section of the store to buy some new plants for the yard. We bought impatiens - pink, purple, orange, etc. to line the sidewalk with. Then I also bought a nice Persian Lime tree to put in the middle of my herb garden. Limes are my favourite citrus fruit, so I'm looking forward to that. It's just a little tree, but hopefully it will grow large and fruitful. We didn't have much room other than that in the van, so we'll probably go back tomorrow or the next day to pick up the date palms and the banana trees. Also we're buying lots of bougainvilleas growing on trellises to put against the courtyard fence. And some more hibiscus, since they seem to do very well in our back yard. We might end up making several trips, hehe.

Now though, I'd better go catch up on some work =P Enjoy the new art!

Oh my gosh Jasmine this is beautiful! Her face is just exquisite! The eyes, the nose, the mouth, it's all perfect. I know you put so much effort into the dress and the dragon, but my eyes keep getting drawn back to her face. The whole thing is so great, I may actually order a print of it!

Beautiful painting! She's very dreamy!

Bougainvillea was one of our color names last season & it took me FOREVER to be able to pronounce that! ha!
I love impatiens! I got some red/white striped ones last summer. I probably will go get more stuff for the balcony in the spring (since all my plants/flowers died this winter).

:)

Thank you Lisa!

Bougainvilleas are one of my favourite flowers - they have such BRIGHT colours and down here they bloom all year 'round, I love them.

Hehe, try as I might they end up looking like me a little bit!

I will, I am proud of my backyard now - before it was just kind of, blah - and now it's going to be a real "secret garden" type of thing!

I really really like the new look to some of your art-such as this Pearl Dragon Princess. Her eyes are so realistic and yet so Jasmine-styled still. Lovely work!

Thank you so much! =) I'm going to try to incorporate some more realism from time to time in my artwork, I enjoy it a lot.

You should-you're really good at it. The incorporation of realism into your stylized works is definitely an intersting addition and I look forward to viewing more and maybe picking up another piece from you at Dragon Con this year too. :)

This one's very different from most of your others. The face is really stunning, and her clothing is amazing. I like her eyes, especially. The only thing is-- her hand is a little distracting. The face, clothing, and hair are all so wonderfully rendered, but the hand looks a little strange, like it's got much less detail and realism put into it. All in all, though, I was damned tempted to bid. Stupid money imps, always hiding the dough. *fuss*

Happy new year, by the way!

Thank ou Kat!! I loved working on this one =)

You're right, the hand is awkward - but I (kinda) meant it to be intentional - a lot of Tudor portraits have weirdly stilted and sized hands, sorta goes with it.

Damn those money imps, they need to stay out of my piggy bank!

oh my!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This painting is aching to be in my home!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You painted this for me, right?? You can't just sit there behind your computer reading and say wellll.......no! You just can't!!! This painting along with all the others but this one painting should win close to a million dollars. I know if I had that million, I would grab it!!!! You did get my order today, right? What do you think of my ideas? Do you have something else in thoughts of how I should do it? Whatever you suggest!!! Plus when I get it framed, I am thinking of shipping the border to you to sign, so it can be added to the painting!!! How about that idea?? Love ya like always, but even more!!!!! Laura

Hi Laura!!! I wrote you back! =)

Hehe, that's the good thing about prints =) She works really well for your LiveJournal icon too.

I'm always happy to sign things - I've had people send me stuff to sign before many times. The oddest thing I've had to sign was a lady's leg - she had a tattoo of my artwork and wanted me to sign with pen, and then the tattoo artist would go over the signature, hehe.

Talk to you soon!
