Wolf!!! [Aug. 14th, 2006|07:06 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
I have been working very hard getting my art together for Dragon*Con! Just about all of my new paintings this month will be taken to Dragon*Con rather than going up on eBay, so I apologize for the lack of eBay auctions this month. My new works will be debuting at the Art Show at Dragon*Con. I hope that many of you will be able to come see me there - I will have so many new original paintings, prints, special items, merchandise, books, etc. all there and I will of course be there to chat, sign stuff, etc. For more info about Dragon*Con check out this link: http://www.dragoncon.org. So that is why you aren't seeing a lot of my new paintings this August! I might still get one or two small pieces up for auction, but other than that they are going with me to Atlanta. However - I just finished a new painting, called "A Wolfish Friend" that is extra special. I am taking the original with me to Dragon*Con, BUT I thought I would go ahead and offer prints (SALE prints & Canvas Prints) of it before I go. And if it doesn't sell at the convention, I'll offer the original for sale in September =)

At any rate - you can see "A Wolfish Friend" by looking at the #01 Lt. Ed. Hand Embellished CANVAS Print below:

"A Wolfish Friend" #01 CANVAS PRINT

And it is one of this week's SALE prints too:

"A Wolfish Friend" $10 SALE 8x10 PRINT

"A Wolfish Friend" $20 SALE 12x16 PRINT

Hope you like the new painting!! =)

Now Matt & I are getting together about 60 lt. ed. canvas prints for Dragon*Con - Matt is stretching them so they are ready-to-hang since it's an art gallery setting. They look really great stretched - in the future we may be offering that as an upgrade option for canvas prints offered in my eBay store and website. We'll see. Matt is also framing some of them. We already have 150 open edition prints ready to bring, some signed framed open edition prints, and I should have maybe a dozen original paintings too. Whew! It's going to be an insane amount of artwork, lol.

Let me see.... what else is going on.... mostly just working, painting, etc. Haven't gotten out of the house much lately, just working. I love working at home though, so I can't complain, hehe - Matt & I watch movies while we work. I had bought a bunch of dirt cheap crappy horror movie box sets at Virgin Megastore and we are working our way through them. We just watched The Screaming Skull, which was a truly terrible movie. I'd actually seen it before as a Mystery Science Theatre episode, so it's kinda funny that I own the regular version on DVD now. The sound quality is some of the worst I've ever heard on a "professional" release, and everything else about that movie is just idiotic, lol - it's great.

I'd better go get to work on some Dragon*Con art, I'll check in again soon!

amazing!

You do amazing work! I just cant believe how amazing all of your paintings are and i would love to see them in person sometime. I am just curious, it seems you paint so quickly, how do you get so many paintings done in such a short time?

Re: amazing!

Thank you so very much!

Well, when I paint I do it in looong stretches, sometimes 18 hours at a time. I try to finish a painting in one setting, but sometimes with big paintings like this one (18x22) it takes me two sittings.

I use acrylic paints and between each layer I use a hairdryer to speed the drying times, which definitely helps in speeding things up!

Other than that I think it's just years of painting every day which makes for a lot of "practice". =)

sometimes you and matt amaze me. i wish i could stop by just to say hi when you are in atlanta, but i will be quite swamped myself at that time.

You will do great though as always, and you both deserve it being the great people you are (and all the hard work you put into everything you do)

Thank you Heather! I saw a wolf in the wild, running across a field in Pennsylvania a couple months ago - it was so neat to see him out there.
