I'm back!! And I have new artwork, paintings, prints, CILM, etc....... [May. 11th, 2008|05:34 pm]
We are back!

Matt took Kachina, Theo, Ellie, Amber & Chris back to the airport early this morning. We had a wonderful vacation in the Caribbean, celebrating the marriage of Heather & Brian McFeely!

I had so much fun, got sunburned, ate a lot and drank even more =)

Now I have returned very inspired and ready for more art! All orders paid for while I was gone will now be shipped out tomorrow, thank you so much. Tonight I have a brand new painting - "Orange Blossom Fairy" (from my Flowers Series!) for auction, I also have a great new graphics package from CILM for you online image hobbyists, and I also have a ton of new SALE prints available for "Violet Angel," "Nothing Left to Dream," and "Lotus Fairy!" See below for more details.....

This new original painting is called "Orange Blossom Fairy." The FIFTH painting in my popular "Flowers" series - she is a lovely piece indeed. Here in Florida, oranges are a-plenty. We have wonderful oranges and orange orchards. The flowers that precede the orange fruit are also quite lovely, and amazingly fragrant! We also have fantastic Orange Blossom Honey made from the flowers, so if you look closely at the painting you will see an adorable little HONEYBEE in there! It is such a cute and colourful piece, I am very happy with her! It is painted in acrylics and measures 12"x16". She is up on eBay starting at just one penny with no reserve for a 7-Day auction ending the evening of Sunday, May 18th at 4:12PM Central Time. You can see her below:

Now, GREAT news for those of you folks who are online image/graphics hobbyists - makers of tubes, signature tags, websets, members of the groups for PSP and other image/graphics groups. I have a brand NEW graphics package up at CILM! The new package (package "R") features some of my best & most popular paintings, including "Amara", "Cemetery Mist", "Willow", a bunch of my "Flowers" faeries, and lots lots more! There are also the options up at CILM to buy a "Combo Pack" where you can get of my previous packages at a discounted sale price, as well as "Custom Packs" where you can piece together your OWN package, from the different images.

Click HERE to see the fabulous new "Package R"

and click here to see the new "Custom Pack" options.

If you're not familiar with online graphics as a hobby - you might want to look into it. It's a FUN way to spend time doing something creative, without the whole "having to paint something yourself" part, hehe. You get to create your own designs and graphics on the computer using my paintings, officially and with my blessing. For ANY questions regarding usage of my images as tubes or tags, this is handled by CILM (not by me myself) - you can contact them here: customerhelp@creativeimagelicensing.com or call them: Customer Service Number Call (toll-free in the USA): 1-877-264-2456

I'm off to go paint exciting paintings! =) Hope everybody had a great weekend!

4 New OSWOA Paintings, and BON VOYAGE!! See you real soon!! [May. 2nd, 2008|06:08 pm]
Hi everyone!

I'm leaving now for my vacation, but before I go I wanted to leave you with four new original cute little 4"x6" OSWOA™ paintings!

I'm so happy to have a bunch of family with me, I haven't gotten to spend as much time with them lately as I would like to. It will be fun to have us all together, and to relax for a few days as well.

*****************
I am out of town and away from my computer until May 10th. All paid orders have now shipped, those placed today and while I'm gone will be shipped upon my return after May 10th. Feel free to bid on all of my auctions at eBay - I will be back home in time to ship with no delay! Feel free to place website orders as well, just keep in mind I will not ship until I am home. Don't worry, I will be back soon (and will have some exciting news from the Bradford Exchange/Hamilton Collection when I'm home!).
*****************

My little OSWOA™ paintings! OSWOA™ stands for "Original Small Work of Art" - if you search OSWOA on eBay you'll find lots of actual original artworks from great artists - all the same size - 4"x6" - that is a great size because it is a standard photo size, perfect for photo albums, photo sleeves, frames, etc. These are actual, original paintings - not prints of any kind. I have four of them for you: "Skull Barrettes," "Magic Eye Necklace," "So Many Butterflies," and "This is My Frog!" - all are acrylic paintings on a 4"x6" sheet of cotton canvas (which is larger than my usual "mini paintings"). All are up for 10 day auctions up on eBay - ending on Monday, May 12th at 4:54 - 5:03PM Central Time and you can see them below:

"Skull Barrettes" ORIGINAL 4"x6" PAINTING

"Magic Eye Necklace" ORIGINAL 4"x6" PAINTING

"So Many Butterflies" ORIGINAL 4"x6" PAINTING

& "This is My Frog!" ORIGINAL 4"x6" PAINTING

and to see all of my other current eBay auctions still running while I'm out of town, just click this link below (and SCROLL DOWN):

All Jasmine's eBay Stuff Currently Available!

And again - I'm leaving now for vacation - I will return on May 10th! Also keep in mind I will be away from my computer and will have limited internet access, so most emails will have to wait until I get back. If there is an emergency, please write "URGENT" in the subject line of the email, and I might get a chance to read it while I'm vacation, if absolutely necessary!

I will have lots more artwork when I get back! Hope everybody has a great week!

Enjoy!

Until next time...

New Custom Painting Auction, TONS more Canvas Prints, and IMPORTANT VACATION ORDERING INFO! [Apr. 30th, 2008|08:37 pm]
Hi everyone!

I have a new CUSTOM painting auction, a ton of new canvas prints, and also important Vacation Ordering Information. I'm getting ready to go out of town for about a week, I will not be leaving until Saturday the 3rd, and back on Sunday the 10th, but I thought I'd let you all know in case you have orders waiting, or need to contact me before I leave, etc. Please note that all of these auctions new auctions (and all of the new ones I listed yesterday) end around the time I get back home, so feel free to bid with confidence - there will be absolutely NO delays on these as I'll be back home and everything will be normal, hehe. And for those of you who have any new eBay orders, OSWOA paintings, etc. you'd like me to ship before I leave, or want to place website orders to ship before I leave, please get your payments to me before Thursday (tomorrow) night at 6:00PM Central Time. All orders paid before that time will ship before I leave, no worries! Otherwise, I will ship when I get back after the 10th.

Please note also that all the other 1000+ items in my store are going "on pause" (ie, the store items & framed originals have "disappeared" but will "reappear" when I get home!) - everything will be back to normal when I come home. You can still place orders on my website while I'm gone though, they'll ship when I get back. My eBay AUCTIONS themselves will not be affected in any way. If you have any questions at all regarding orders or eBay or shipping times, please email me asap!

First off is the new CUSTOM painting - these are SO much fun, both for me and for the customer! This is a larger one than usual too! Basically I have a 12"x16" painting just started - the beginnings of a big eyed beautiful face to one side. The winner of this auction will get to tell me how to finish their painting! It is your painting - you can choose if she will be a fairy, an angel, a mermaid, a Halloween witch, an elf, etc. You can choose her clothing, her eye colour, her hair colour, her skintone, her hairstyle, and her makeup! If she is a fairy, you can tell me what type of wings to paint and what colour. If you want her to be a mermaid, you can tell me how you'd like her tail to look, hehe. These are a blast! She is up for sale on eBay - a ten day auction starting at ONE PENNY with no reserve (typically my custom paintings start at about $2000 and have a long waiting list, so you may get a bargain!)- ending on the evening of Saturday, May 10th at 7:30PM Central Time and you can see her here:

"Custom Fairy Painting" ORIGINAL PAINTING - PAINTED JUST FOR YOU

Next up - I have a lot more of my new #01 Canvas Prints! These are the #01 (first of the edition) Limited Edition Hand Embellished Canvas prints all up for a "starting at a penny" auction ending the night of Saturday, May 10th at 7:00PM-7:25PM Central Time, and you can see them below.

"Nothing Left to Dream" Lt. Ed. CANVAS PRINT #01

I'll probably have another update before I leave, I just wanted to give everybody an advance warning that I will be out of town. And also not to worry if some of my eBay store items have "disappeared" as they are currently just "on pause" with eBay's Vacation Settings.

Enjoy!

New Wizard of Oz TRIPTYCH, & Tons of #1 Canvas Prints [Apr. 29th, 2008|07:14 pm]
Hi everyone!

I have a new beautiful, very special painting for you - another amazing collaboration between myself (the artist) and my husband Matt (the framer/woodcrafter) - a new triptych! And it is the latest in my "Oz" series, featuring Dorothy herself! Also I have the #01 Lt. Ed. Canvas Prints for "Impatiens Fairy," "Amara," "Willow," "Sunflower Fairy," and "Violet Angel" today.

"Dorothy in the Poppies" is the new Original Painting - this almost looks like something you'd see in a Renaissance or Medieval art museum - much like an old altar piece. It is a "triptych" - which means that it is actually three paintings - this one is divided by gold/bronze painted wooden and resin mouldings/frames (I painted them myself!) - a sort of "3 in 1" type of piece. There are little architectural details - columns, carved wooden flowers, etc. The center panel features the lovely Dorothy - just laying herself down to take a rest in the field of poppies - little does she know, she will soon be drifting off into a dangerous sleep..... The two side panels each feature paintings of poppies in fields, and there are some "basement" panels featuring carved flowers on painted grass. My husband Matty custom handcrafted the panel & frame out of wood and resin! It is very lightweight wood and can easily be hung on any wall. It is quite large - 24" wide by 22" at the peak - and about .75" or so thick on the columns and carved wood & resin details. I am so happy I am able to create works like these, and by collaborating with my husband and his workshop, I truly have made my dream a reality. I am very proud of this painting. It really has to be seen in person to appreciate it! It is READY TO HANG and is really stunning, finished with a glossy varnish. "Dorothy in the Poppies" is up for auction on eBay starting at just ONE PENNY with no reserve, for a 10-day auction ending the evening of Friday, May 9th at 5:58PM Central Time (Kansas Time, hehe!), and you can see her below:

Each is starting at a penny, with no reserve for ten-day auctions ending on the evening of Friday, May 9th at 5:43 - 5:52 PM Central Time.

Bradford Exchange / Hamilton Collection news, and OSWOA Original Paintings! [Apr. 25th, 2008|09:09 am]
[mood | cheerful]

Hi everyone!

Another lovely day outside! I'm in a good mood today =) I've got a bunch of family coming down next week - including Theo, Ellie and Kachina again, as well as my sister Amber & her husband Chris! They're coming to celebrate the wedding of Heather & Brian (McFeely, not Kendig, hehe). We're going with them as well as Brian (Kendig) and his girlfriend Jill, all of us out on the ocean to celebrate at sea. It should be a wonderful time. I won't be gone until next Sunday or so, so no worries on orders, etc. yet - I will post later on with details regarding shipping, etc. Nothing will be affected for another week or so yet. I'm just really excited that both my sisters will be here!

And on the art front - I have FOUR original cute little 4"x6" OSWOA™ paintings for you today! I also have some very good news on the merchandising front - I'd like to announce that I have partnered with the Bradford Exchange and the Hamilton Collection for new lines of collectibles! The Bradford Exchange/Hamilton Collection is a fantastic company and I'm very proud and excited about our new projects. They always do a wonderful job and make beautiful, high quality pieces. My first collectible will be available very soon - I will of course let you all know when she's ready! My projects with them will be exclusive to the Bradford Exchange, meaning that most will be unique designs created solely for their use (in otherwords, artwork you have never seen before, not even on my website), and you'll only be able to get them at the Bradford Exchange/Hamilton Collection. Very neat!

Ah, my little OSWOA™ paintings! I have four of them for you today: "Pink Distance," "Steel Blue Eyes," "Blonde Braided Mermaid," and "Green Eyed Voodoo" - all are ORIGINAL acrylic paintings on 4"x6" sheets of cotton canvas (larger than my usual "mini paintings"). Due to OSWOA™ rules, the auctions must start at $9.95 instead of my usual .01 penny auctions, sorry about that! No worries though, I will have some penny-auctions soon too. Each is up for a 7 day auction up on eBay - ending on Thursday, May 1st at 8:52PM - 8:58PM Central Time and you can see them below (scroll down to the bottom or click on the OSWOA link on the menu to see them!:

The new painting is truly stunning, I can't say enough good things about it!! This is a truly beautiful painting, probably one of the best (if not THE best) I have done! I keep gawking at it myself, hehe. At 51" high (between 4 and 5 feet tall) with frame, it is certainly one of the largest! Part of my ever-popular "Wolves" series - here is "Wolf Song." A soulful scene, it features a violet eyed maiden playing a violin for her wolf companion - somewhere in a secluded gothic mansion. There is a phenomenal amount of detail in this painting, I am very proud of it (and it took me forever to paint, hehe). And guess what - it is FRAMED! Yes, you get the FRAME too - and it is gorgeous! Framed by my wonderful husband, Matt. This frame is really something special - the frame measures 51" high by 38" wide, and is made from wood and framing foam composite, with an antique gold finish - lavishly ornate and highly detailed. This is the most beautiful frame I've had in my possession so far! It is about 4" thick, and very wide - at the top the ornamentation is a whopping 18"! I also posted it with a photo of myself holding it, to show size & scale. "Wolf Song" is up in my eBay store where it will remain until purchased - or otherwise it is coming with me in August to Dragon*Con!!! You can see the original painting below :

"Nothing Left to Dream", Bunnies, & Dates [Apr. 21st, 2008|09:04 am]
We have a bunny who lives in our backyard!

He is so cute! He's been there every day for about two weeks, sitting on the patio, in the bushes, on the sidewalk - looking adorable. He eats some of the flowers, but we don't care, because he is so cute!

I have been putting carrots out there periodically, and he's been eating them. It's like having a pet who we never see up close and who is terrified of us, hehe.

Mama Wolf and Azrael watch him out the window. I think Mama Wolf wants to sneak outside and gobble him up!

In other exciting backyard news - our date palm is growing dates! It's twice the size as when we bought it about a year ago, and it started getting weird greenbean looking seedpods on it. Now the pods are splitting open, and flowering with tiny little dates! I did a little gardening research and read that they should be ready to eat this fall. I'm so excited! I'm going to eat them!

Matt's mom is back in Kansas City now - I think she had a great visit. She's a lot of fun to have around =)

Our stupid oven broke last night, and I needed to "cook" about a zillion canvas prints, too. The repair guy is coming out asap, hopefully it won't cost us an arm and a leg.

Now (of course) for the art news....

I have a NEW original painting - "Nothing Left to Dream" - kind of a sad one - but still quite lovely! Also, just a head's up - my eBay store's 25% Off Everything Sale is still on, so check out the deals before the sale ends Wednesday night at the stroke of midnight.

To see the 25% OFF SALE right now, check out my eBay store now, before Wednesday night comes!:

Also, as usual, if the links do not appear to be clickable, simply copy & paste the full link text into the URL field of your browser!

"Nothing Left to Dream" is the name- a poor dear dark haried fairy, with nothing left to dream, and in the depths of despair. Her wings are tattered, and there are tears in her eyes as she gazes at a wilting red rose, barefoot in the woods. It's quite large measuring 16"x20" - original acrylics on sheet of canvas. This original painting is up on eBay starting at just ONE PENNY with no reserve for a 7-Day auction ending the evening of Sunday, April 27th at 6:21PM Central Time. You can see it below:

"Willow" - New ORIGINAL Book Painting! DRAGON*CON News, Prints & more.. [Apr. 17th, 2008|09:04 am]
Hi everyone!

We're having a great time with Matt's mom here! I made a big Indian dinner last night with saffron rice and peas, Quorn coconut curry with almonds and raisins, and Saag Paneer (spinach, tomatoes and paneer yogurt cheese), yogurt and chillies.

Guess what? I'm getting my CONTROL SHEETS and PIECE IDS ready (hehe, the other artists will know what I mean!) because it's that time of year again! Dragon*Con is coming! Well, it's coming in a few months, but I am going all-out this year getting ready for it. I am so stoked, I love Dragon*Con. I've confirmed my Art Show entrance and hotel info and am ready to go, hehe! I've already started on some very special top secret projects that will be there, this year will be bigger and better than ever before, I am so excited! I will be bringing a phenomenal amount of artwork, original paintings, cameo necklaces and other jewelry, books, statues, prints, and some other special surprises! I've got great paintings planned out (I have to let them know ahead of time what I'm bringing) - triptychs, Wolves, Faeries, Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, and hopefully some HALLOWEEN stuff too (it'll be this fall...). I have a new series I'm planning to unveil there as well. It's kind of fun figuring out everything ahead of time like that. I'm also already thinking about what outfits to wear.....

Dragon*Con will be held Labor Day weekend (August 29 - September 1, 2008) in Atlanta, GA. It's a blast, and I'm already preparing for it this early, because it's such a great show! Hope to see you there! For more info on Dragon*Con, visit their website here:

http://www.dragoncon.org

I have a brand new original painting to show you, and it is one of my BOOK illustrations - a very special one - her name is Willow, and she lives in a swamp amongst the will-o'-the-wisps - and she is FRAMED! I also have prints available of her as well, on SALE!

The new painting - "Willow" - A mysterious beauty - surrounded by stunning swamp iris blooms and steaming Spanish Moss - it gives an exotic feel to the room just hanging up on my wall. Her name is Willow - this is a very special painting, as she's going to be featured in an upcoming book of short stories. This is a portrait of Willow, a fairy creature who is akin to the will-o'-the-wisp (mysterious swamp lights, that some attribute to faeries!). A beautiful girl, her eyes glow like the mysterious orbs, and she clutches one in her arms as well. I've used a special sort of "Interference" paints on them which really make them almost seem to "glow"! Since she will be published, she is certainly of special interest to collectors. She is FRAMED by my wonderful husband, Matt.in a beautiful bamboo themed dark brown wood frame - particularly appropriate for the subject of this piece. I have finished the painting with a glossy varnish and it looks amazing! She's completely READY-TO-HANG on your wall, strung with hanger wire and ready to go. She is up for sale in my eBay store (at fixed price or Best Offer!) and you can see her here:

Click HERE to see my new "Willow" ORIGINAL PAINTING

If she's not quite in your budget - please feel free to use eBay's "Make Offer" button at the top of the page to make me your best offer! Don't worry - I am NEVER insulted or anything like that =) Honestly - I have had offers for a penny before, and I may giggle - but I never get mad, hehe. I take each and every offer seriously and read each personally. So feel free to try your luck - you never know! ;) Most of my framed original paintings have this "Make Offer" option, and it is pretty new to eBay - but a fun and exciting way to do business up there, so you might want to give it a shot! If you have any questions about how that works - just feel free to email me.

To see my other currently available original paintings, click below:

Next up are the prints! If the original painting is completely out of your budget, I do have the prints of "Willow" already up - and they are now on SALE! So cute!

"Willow" 8x10 SALE PRINT $9.99

& "Willow" 12x16 SALE PRINT $20.00

Also a head's up - one of my collectors is selling a couple of my canvas prints at great prices! I can confirm that these are indeed legitimate pieces, made my me =) Click below to see her auctions:

Amanda's Jasmine Becket-Griffith Canvas Print Auctions

Enjoy! I've gotta go fill a bunch of custom cameo orders. Probably will take me most of the day, but I have my I-Phone and a new Audiobook from Audible, so I'm all set!

Lotus Fairy (a Yoga inspired painting!) and ACEOs [Apr. 15th, 2008|10:10 pm]
Hi everyone!

We picked up Matt's mother at the airport today - she's here for a visit! We had lunch and did some shopping - it's always fun to have her here.

Of course I squeeze in painting time as well! In fact, I have a brand new, beautiful original Yoga Fairy painting for you tonight! A little different than usual - very mystical and beautifully coloured. Also a bunch of new ACEOs from my latest paintings!

Okay! First of all the new painting - "Lotus Fairy" - a little more ethereal than my usual works - probably inspired by a recent visit from my sister Kachina (who loves yoga)! Here is a fairy creature (looking very mystically enlightened and at peace) sitting in the traditional Lotus position - also sitting upon a Lotus flower. The Lotus pool behind her is whispering away into the night sky as the lily pads are transformed into colourful stars.... This really is a lovely and special painting! And quite LARGE too - at 16"x20" in size, she is an original acrylic painting on a sheet of canvas. She's up on eBay starting at just one penny with no reserve for a 10-Day auction ending the afternoon of Friday, April 25th at 9:02 PM CENTRAL TIME. You can see her below:

New "Atlantis Mermaid" Original Triptych, and new Canvases.... [Apr. 7th, 2008|06:48 pm]
Hi everyone!

I have a new beautiful, very special painting for you - another amazing collaboration between myself (the artist) and my husband Matt (the framer/woodcrafter) - a stunning Renaissance altarpiece-style wooden triptych! Perhaps my best yet - as well as my largest in size - and definitely the most elaborately designed piece so far. It is a tribute to classical architecture - featuring a mermaid swimming through the (3-dimensional) ruins of ancient Atlantis! Also I have the #01 Lt. Ed. Canvas Prints for "Butterflies Galore," "Poisoned Apple," "Mermaid with Cephalopods" & "Alice and Friends" today.

Also if the links do not appear to be clickable, simply copy & paste the full link text into the URL field of your browser!

"Atlantis Mermaid" is the new Original Painting - this almost looks like something you'd see in a Renaissance or Medieval art museum - much like an old altar piece. It is a "triptych" - which means that it is actually three paintings - this one is divided by copper/patina painted wooden and resin mouldings/frames (I painted them myself!) - a sort of "3 in 1" type of piece. Actually I guess this one has four panels, so it's a multi-tych. There are little architectural details - columns, a window, carved wooden classical sea monster-like architectural details, frames-within frames - very stunning indeed - that really evoke the ruins of Atlantis, crumbling below the ocean! The center panel features a painting of a beautiful dark haired mermaid, with schools of fish in the distance. On either side of her are classical columns and other architectural details. The two side panels each feature paintings of seahorses - very pretty - each set within their own 3-d frame-within-a-frames, set in painted stone walls. At the very bottom is a long horizontal wall that features more blue ocean, distant fish, and a pair of magnificent classical carved wooden sea monster details. The varying degrees of depth in this painting - either from actual wood, resin, framing, as well as from the depth of field of my own paintings within this piece really makes this piece special. "Atlantis Mermaid" is up in my eBay store where she will remain until purchased (otherwise she'll travel along with me to Dragon*Con!), and you can see her below:

Two New Original Paintings, Canvas Prints & May Queen Prints... [Apr. 2nd, 2008|09:13 pm]
Hi everyone!

I've been, well, painting a lot =P

In fact I have TWO brand new paintings to show you! One is a new Flower fairy piece up for a "penny auction", and another is a lovely framed Snow White piece in my eBay store. In addition I have NEW canvas prints, and my "May Queen" prints are now for sale!

The first new painting is called "Sunflower Fairy" is my latest original painting - the fourth in my "Flowers" series! She measures 12"x16" and is an original acrylic painting on a sheet of canvas. I was originally born in Kansas - the state flower there is the Sunflower, and I have always associated it with happy sunny fields. I've paired the sunflowers in this painting with a freckled red-haired fairy - too cute! She is up for auction on eBay starting at just ONE PENNY with no reserve! She's up for a 10 day auction ending on the evening of Saturday, April 12th at 7:15 PM CENTRAL TIME and You can see her below....

Click HERE to see my new "Sunflower Fairy" 12"x16" ORIGINAL PAINTING

The next new painting is called "Poisoned Apple" is my latest framed original painting! I'm of course obsessed with fairy tales, and Snow White is among my favourites. I've pictured here in a moment of indecision - the apple (dripping with poison) hanging from a string dangling right in front of her! I love this painting - with the vibrant jewel-toned colours and the gold-leafed frame, it almost looks more like an ornate piece of jewelry for your home, rather than a painting, hehe! FRAMED it measures 17"x20" and is an original acrylic painting on a 12"x16" masonite panel and it is FRAMED in an elegant 3"-6" wide heavy, ornate antiqued-gold leaf toned solid wood frame, with a Victorian oval cut-out. It is very uniqe - with it's oval "window" - very posh looking. My husband Matt has framed this piece very beautifully indeed. She's all ready-to-hang! She is up in my eBay store at a fixed price where it will remain until purchased on eBay by a lucky bidder! You can see her below....

"Amara" New Book Painting & Prints, Cameos, and PORTFOLIO ONE BOOK ORDERS HAVE SHIPPED! [Mar. 31st, 2008|02:48 pm]
It's so nice, I can open the living room windows now and get some air in here. I couldn't previously because MY HOUSE WAS FULL OF BOOKS! Seriously, it was crazy. We got in our stock of my Portfolio Volume I books on Friday, so this weekend Matt packed them all up to ship out today. It was such an amazing ordeal, I could describe it here but it would be unbelievable yet boring at the same time, lol. Suffice to say, most of yesterday I was signing books, believe me =P

So! Those of you who pre-ordered the book - your order is now on its way!

Those of you who haven't ordered yet - you are in luck because the book is now in stock and ready for immediate shipment - you can order it here: "Jasmine Becket-Griffith: Portfolio Volume I"

In more BOOK news - I have a brand new original painting to show you, it is one of my Book Illustration characters - Amara - a Polynesian Menehune! And she is FRAMED! I also have prints available of her as well, on SALE!

"Amara" is a CUTIE - she is the sixth character portait painting I've done for an upcoming book of short stories (previously there has been Alannah, Kitsune, Fiona, Bijou, and Nixie). Since it is a commissioned illustration due to be in an upcoming book, she is surely of special interest to collectors!. She really brings a refreshing and bright tropical feel just hanging up on my wall. This is a portrait of Amara, a Polynesian / Hawaiian type of fairy creature - also known as a Menehune - Amara is a name meaning "Paradise". She does live in a paradise, with a waterfall - bird of paradise plants, orchids, all kinds of tropical foliage. Menehune are often described as loving bananas and rainbows, so I have included them in this painting as well. "Amara" is an original acrylic painting, on a canvas panel and it has been framed in beautiful bamboo themed dark brown wood frame - particularly appropriate for the subject of this piece - kind of a tropical tiki feel to it. The panel is 16"x20" and framed she measures 19"x23". I have finished the painting with a glossy varnish and it looks amazing! This piece is 100% ready to hang on your wall. She is up for sale in my eBay store and you can see her here:

Random Morning stuff! [Mar. 30th, 2008|08:44 am]
[mood | cheerful]

It occurred to me today that I do the same thing every morning - but I really like it that way!

I'm not a sleepy person. I don't really enjoy sleeping the way most people seem to. I don't dream often (don't remember it much at least), and when I do it's usually stress induced dreams having to do with damaged artwork, incorrect orders being sent, working on my website, or too many emails, lol. So I like to stay up late and wake up early!

I don't get up WAY early, but I wake up at 6:45am every single day. I get up - read over the orders from my website and eBay/etsy from overnight, then I put on my workout clothes and do Tae-Bo, and then I lift weights. Every single day! I always open the windows by me really wide and I watch the sunrise and the animals (lizards, snakes, etc.) in the backyard from my window while I work out. I also watch the hot air balloons - hot air ballooning must be really popular around here, because I see them almost every morning, today there were three.

While I exercise, I think about what I will paint that day.

After exercise, I shower, dress, then brush my hair and put on a little makeup. I love my bathroom - it's big and I have hung prisms in the window - it's east facing so they get hit hard by the sunrise and make rainbows everywhere while I'm getting ready, I love it!

Then I go downstairs, and I make my breakfast. I always have one cup of Fiber One cereal, with fruit cut up in it (usually coconut) and one glass of V8 Splash juice, either tropical or berry.

I eat my breakfast on my back porch - I bring my laptop out to my table, and I look at my Friends List on LiveJournal. Or make a post like I am right now!

Then I paint until it's time to go to bed, hehe. And squeeze in other stuff when I can.

I guess everybody has a "morning ritual" - and that would be mine! I find that if I do the same thing every day, I never forget anything, and it leaves my mind open to think about art, fun stuff like that.

Today I'm (hopefully) going to finish up "Amara". She is the next in my line of character portrait illustrations for an upcoming book (so far is Alannah, Kitsune, Bijou, Fiona, and Nixie). She is described as being sort of a Polynesian / Hawaiian girl, like a Menehune - I'm incorporating a lot of tropical elements (stuff from my backyard!), bananas, flowers, maybe a rainbow, etc. So far it is gorgeous, and fun to paint! Off I go...........

Carnivorous Greenhouse Triptych & New Canvas Prints [Mar. 28th, 2008|07:34 pm]
Hi everyone!

I have a new beautiful, very special painting for you - another amazing collaboration between myself (the artist) and my husband Matt (the framer/woodcrafter) - a stunning Renaissance altarpiece-style wooden triptych! This is my BEST yet (if you ask me) - the most elaborately designed piece so far. A gothic Greenhouse filled with carnivorous plants! Also I have the #01 Lt. Ed. Canvas Prints for Rose Fairy, Pink Spotted Mermaid & Koi Pond Mermaid.

"Carnivorous Greenhouse" is the new Original Painting. It is a "triptych" - which means that it is actually three paintings - this one is divided by copper/patina painted wooden and resin mouldings/frames (I painted them myself!) - a sort of "3 in 1" type of piece. There are little architectural details - columns, a window, etc. that really make this piece look like a forgotten gothic Victorian greenhouse! The center panel features a beautiful dark haired girl, wearing a dress inspired by a Venus Flytrap!. Above her you will see an ornate window looking out into the starry night sky. The girl stands amongst crumbling bronze urns overgrowing with Carnivorous Plants! I've always been fascinated by Carnivorous Plants and when I found out EBSQ was holding a Carnivorous Plants show, I had to create this special painting just for it! Both the left and right hand panels feature striking Pitcher Plants, and a variety of other creepy plants crawl through the scene.... My husband Matty custom handcrafted the panel & frame out of wood and resin! It is very lightweight wood and can easily be hung on any wall. It is quite large - 24" wide by 17" at the peak - and about an inch or so thick on the columns. I am so happy I am able to create works like these, and by collaborating with my husband and his workshop, I truly have made my dream a reality. I am very proud of this painting. It really has to be seen in person to appreciate it! It is READY TO HANG and is really stunning, finished with a glossy varnish. "Carnivorous Greenhouse" is up for a 10-day auction on eBay starting at just a penny with NO reserve - the auction will be ending on the afternoon/evening of Monday, April 7th at 6:13 PM Central Time. Impatiens Fairy - original framed painting - PRINTS & CAMEOS! [Mar. 27th, 2008|11:18 am]
Hi everyone!

Wow - that sonic boom last night from the shuttle returning back home to Florida last night was LOUD! We had all our windows open, it really startled me! I wasn't sure what it was at first, then I realized it was 8:39pm - the exact time that the shuttle was due to come through the atmosphere, hehe. I notice a lot of my Florida friends posted about it as well, lol.

I have a brand new original painting to show you, and it is of the latest fairy in my "Flowers" series. And she is FRAMED! I also have prints available of her as well, on SALE! Also - I have listed a bunch of NEW Cameo pendant necklaces in my Etsy shop!

First the new painting - "Impatiens Fairy" - she is a CUTIE - she is the third painting in my "Flowers" series - featuring the lovely Impatiens. Beautiful bright flowers that I have growing in my own backyard are the inspiration for this piece, and the colours on this are gorgeous. The lovely little flowers also appear in the frame itself if you look closely! YES IT IS FRAMED! Yes, you get the FRAME too - and it is gorgeous! Framed by my wonderful husband, Matt. This is one of the most gorgeous frames I've ever seen - highly detailed with many flower and leaf accents that perfectly complement the painting itself - the frame is about 3" deep and 6" wide, with stunning detail. The painting itself is 12"x16" but with the frame it is almost 24"x27". I have finished the painting with a glossy varnish and it looks amazing! She is up for sale in my eBay store and you can see her here:
